Should You Eat Before a Massage?

Woman eating a light meal before a massage in Honolulu.

One of the most common questions we hear at Aloha Massage Spa is:

"Should I eat before my massage?"

The answer is yes—but keep it light.

Eating a light meal or healthy snack about 1–2 hours before your massage is the best choice. It gives your body enough energy without making you feel too full or uncomfortable.

Avoid eating a heavy meal right before your appointment. A full stomach can make it harder to relax, especially during deep tissue or abdominal massage. Your body will be focusing on digestion instead of relaxation.

At the same time, coming in completely hungry isn't ideal either. Low blood sugar may leave you feeling lightheaded or uncomfortable during your session.
